About the Author
Richard W. Hill is Professor in the Department of Integrative Biology at Michigan State University and a frequent Guest Investigator at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. He received his Ph.D. in Zoology from the University of Michigan. Apart from Sinauer Associates' editions of Animal Physiology, Dr. Hill is a coauthor of Principles of Life, 2nd edition (Sinauer, 2014) and has authored two other books on animal physiology (the second with Gordon Wyse), as well as numerous articles for scientific journals, encyclopedias, and edited volumes. Among the awards he has received are the Outstanding Faculty Award (Michigan State University Senior Class Council) and election as Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He was a U.S. Senior Fulbright Scholar in 2000-2001. His research interests include: temperature regulation and energetics in birds and mammals, especially neonates; and environmental physiology of marine tertiary sulfonium and quaternary ammonium compounds, especially in the contexts of biogeochemistry and animal-algal symbioses. Gordon A. Wyse is Professor of Biology Emeritus and Lecturer at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He completed his Ph.D. at the University of Michigan, then did postdoctoral and sabbatical work at Stanford University and Harvard Medical School. Dr. Wyse helped found the graduate program in Neuroscience and Behavior at UMass Amherst. He has served as Associate Dean of the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and on the Editorial Board of Advances in Physiology Education. His research interests include the neural control of feeding behavior and other behavior patterns. Margaret Anderson is Professor Emerita of Biological Sciences at Smith College. After completing her Ph.D. at Stanford University, she undertook postdoctoral studies at the Universidad Catolica de Chile, Harvard University, and the University of Puerto Rico. At Smith, Dr. Anderson served as an Academic Dean, Director of the Program in Neuroscience, and premedical advisor. She is one of six founding members of the Consortium of Medical Schools and Women's Colleges, and she contributes to several efforts that encourage women and minorities in the sciences. Her research interests include the functional properties of excitable cells.

Nice, concise and makes a lot if sense than ...

Nice, concise and makes a lot if sense than going thru the boring laws on the board of pharmacy Web page. I mostly red the federal book and it helped even with Oregon law. The only bid difference from federal was the record keeping in Oregon is 3 years and 2 in federal. Also the birth control law, marijuana and pseudoephedrine. But I definitely unupdated version of this and the federal book is what you need for the Oregon mpje.

The revised and enlarged text is based on a lecture course given by V. V. Schmidt at the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys. It provides a modern treatment of the physics of superconductors with special attention paid to the physical interpretation of the phenomena. This English edition has been enlarged by the inclusion of such new developments as high-temperature superconductivity, and, as such, is the most up-to-date textbook available on the subject. Numerous problems with solutions help the student to become familiar with this field.

The best introduction to conventional superconductivity there is

This book is the best introduction to superconductivity that I have encountered and probably my favorite physics textbook of all time. Schmidt does an excellent job of concisely laying out the basics of superconductivity in as few words as possible without sacrificing clarity. Many canonical examples are worked out in the text and those that aren't are included as end-of-chapter exercises. Because the explanations are so clear and short I find myself using this book as a reference on conventional superconductivity more often than I use Tinkham.

However, the book's main drawback is that Schmidt died before the discovery of high-Tc so it obviously does not contain anything on that subject. Pair this book with Tinkham and more modern reviews on high-Tc superconductivity and you'll be set.

This is a bit of a dated text (written just prior to the Bardeen, Cooper, and Schrieffer explanation) yet a brief and excellent treaty on the subject.
It is expressed with clarity and it is easily understandable aimed more to the user than to the researcher.

I am new to the field of Agricultural Health and Safety, " Agricultural Medicine: Rural Occupational and Environmental Health, Safety, and Prevention" is a must have. This book provides a solid foundation for those in the health and safety field, which includes public health, occupational health, primary care, family medicine and many other fields who deal with those in farming, agriculture and rural communities. This book provides a well written documented history of the Agricultural Health and Safety field, as has several national and international co-authors who are as experts in the field as well. Donham and Thelin have done a wonderful job capturing key health and safety issues and provided an excellent reference for those serving this population. Highly Recommended!
